I've been spending my free time watching Bednaya Nastya, a Russian soap opera. It's so addicting.

I also have been working on my own art for the first time in awhile.

I have done the line-art over three times now, and I was going to do it a 4th time last night because I fucked up the shading... but i'm glad I stuck with it and worked it out. I'm REALLY happy with it. When it is done I'll post a good quality picture :] I'll probably mail it to Yana after the holiday season, to avoid the massive clusterfuck mess that is the postal system around this time of the year. I'm hoping it makes it to Moscow unharmed.

There are boxes I still haven't unpacked, and in
the 2-3 months that I have lived here, things have gotten a little crazy.
Nothing over the top, but I do need to clean & organize.

I think I'm going to spend the majority of tomorrow cleaning.
I have a plan! I'm going to get some blank cards out and
make it into a game.

Prismacolor Markers + Pen

Done for the promotional posters and cards
for the International Art Fair @ Washburn in May.

They seriously used this for everything.
It was EVERYWHERE.
All of the teachers used the 4x4 copies for passes.
If I ever see another poster with this image again
I am going to go crazy. It was so annoying.
I hate seeing all of the mistakes I made, haha.
Not to mention they botched the quality to hell.

Oh well, here's some more:

I was bored in 4th hour and painted this,
it was an experiment with grey tones.
I ended up trading it to Alex Brown for
a plain white ceramic pot he made on the wheel
because I wanted to paint it.

My plastic beat-up legendary amazing ugly beautiful colorful star bracelet.
I have worn it religiously and almost every single day since the summer before high school.
It has not been taken off since Spring 2006, and I decided to sew it on when I was in Europe.

It's been through everything.

My first kiss, first boyfriend, first day of high school (and every single one following), the first time I smoked, got piss drunk, left North America/went to Europe, went to Las Vegas, drove a car, got written up by Ms. Dreis, prom, homecoming, sadies, made out with a foreign exchange student.

Every single date I went on, all of Miryam's crazy parties, when I got stranded with Tianna in North Minneapolis on St Patricks Day in 06, the times at the malt shop with La'Neice and De'Anna, skipping and sitting in Mr Johnson-Nixon's room all day, slaving away as an under-paid dish girl at Let's Cook for over a year, being locked in the media center stairwell with Jorge, everything. It has been through EVERYTHING.

It started out with 12 bright, gleaming-new star beads on a white elastic string.

There are now 8 chipped, worn down, tired star beads holding on to dear life with the help of some fishing wire, a pathetic amount of pink sewing thread from my last day in England, and some green sewing thread I jerry'd up on a boat in the middle of Wisconsin last summer when I was worried the pink thread was disintegrating. There are also various amounts of paint left over from murals and my other artfagging.

I have come to the difficult decision that when it feels right, I will cut off my beloved ex-good-luck-charm-turned-sentimental-treasure and retire it to my jewelry box as a keep-sake. I think this summer would be a good time to do that. I'm not sure when. Maybe when I find a new item to be with me through college and all of the other firsts I will have. So circa July, I need a new treasure. Who knows what it will be, but I will find one.

In other news, I'm done with High School.
Forever..
Tomorrow is graduation.
I don't really know how I feel about this,
since Washburn was the first place I have ever felt like I fit in,
and even though it is a ghetto shit-hole,
it has a place in my heart for always being there for me.
Yes.
Every morning.
Even when I didn't want to go.

Washburn has a bad rap, but I'm glad I went,
as opposed to the other option of South or South West.
Sure they have thousands of dollars for their art programs,
and other things such as toilet paper or hooks on the bathroom doors for your purses,
but there was a place for me at Washburn.
and friends.
and people who cared.
and amazing teachers.
and no cliques (well not in class of 2008 or earlier years that I was there, the class of 2007 seems to be bitchy and such..)

It's going to be a huge culture shock going to attend CVA.
A teeny-weeny-private-predominately-caucasian-Saint-Paul-ART-school!?
I'm.
Scared.
Shitless.
...but very happy!
I'm just so comfortable at Washburn...
But I am ready to leave.
